In my landscape photographs, the earth and sky are segmented into inverted arcs of light in reflections made with a mirrored glass tube. Working in the field to properly align the tube and camera is physically challenging and forces me to focus on my surroundings in a different way. The analog intervention produces abstract landscapes that reveal local variations on natural elements like clouds, trees, and sand. When placed in an array, these images speak to one another in a dialog of subtle differences in light and tone.

I have always made art, from drawing and crafts as a child to painting and sculpture as an undergraduate and printmaking, ceramics, and weaving later in life. This photographic body of work grew out of a project initially undertaken at the Exploratorium and now, over ten years later, includes hundreds of images representing locations around the world.
